Photographer Statement
As a photographer, I am always in search of the unnoticed abstracts in nature. While studying water in any form, I am captivated by the exploration of how the natural light interacts with what is within it. If the subject is plant matter, it is thoughtfully examined until I am completely enamored in how light and shadows affect its appearance. It is this intimate search that leads me in discovering the “essence” of my subject matter. My purpose is to reveal what is already there that our eyes often overlook. There is nothing more exhilarating than discovering something unexpected and beautiful within a photograph. No need to sensationalize what is already naturally sensational.
Bio
Cape Cod Massachusetts has been my home for my entire life. Photography has always been at the forefront in my life with the elements in nature being my favorite to discover. While exploring new ideas, I have become deeply impassioned in my Fine Art Photography. My work has evolved from observation within traditional/academic photography to a process of discovering the essence of my subject matter. For numerous years, I have been mentored by Visual Artist/Photographer Jon Moore. Artist, Nick Vardack and his wife Louise have also held a steadfast role of support and critique. The focus of my work has evolved into predominately a mix between representational and non-representational abstract photography.
Recognition - I would like to recognize my mother, Mary E. Breivogel. She was an avid photographer and she is often the guiding force behind my photography work.
